4th of July weekend

Up until this year we have spent our 4th of July weekends entertaining others at our home. I enjoy that but this year I felt a bit burnt out so this year we spent the weekend in Santa Babara. It was so relaxing to get away with just our family and we all really enjoyed ourselves. We spent most of our time at the beach (as you can see below). It was L's first time at the ocean. He was hesitant at first but as soon as his feet hit the water he couldn't get enough. This weekend was so relaxing I can't wait till our next 'weekend' getaway!

Planter 2 the begining

Planter two is finally up! My only issue now is I don't have enough to plant in it. I had a whole box of strawberry seeds & Bell Peppers that didn't come up. So I've planted one pumpkin a tomato and one cantaloupe. I've re-started the strawberries in the hopes that they will eventually arrive. Only time will tell at this point.

Planter 1 planted

It's been awhile since the last post. We have been recovering from our 4th of July weekend getaway. We finally were able to get our seedlings planted in planter one. Its just amazing to watch the little guys grow. Using the square foot garden guide we planted watermelon, Pot Marigold, tomato, Pumpkins, leaf lettuce, butter lettuce, bell pepper, peas, cantaloupe, onions, carrots, and garlic. Below is a layout of planter 1. We used leftover Popsicle sticks to label the plants.

Afternoon in the sprinklers

Today was L's first experience running in the sprinklers or 'sprinkler' in this case. Both of the boys has so much fun it totally felt like one of those afternoons you have as a kid that last forever. It was just simply awesome!

Where are the wild things?

X is a very active and adventerious three year old child. Lately he has been on this kick with the book Where the Wild Things Are. He told me last night that he wanted to go to the wood to find the wild things. I thought it was so cute he has to most wild imagination. I just couldn't pass up reliving that magical feeling of imagary things. So I told him I would take him to the woods and we would search for the "wild things". I took him a local state park that has smaller trails you can take kids on. We didn't find any "wild things" but we did see alot of bunnies, squirrls, and lizards. He had a great time and suprisingly he wan't dissappointed that we didn't see any wild things. He told me "They must be sleeping, maybe they come out at night. But I sleep at night so I can't look for them then."

are the wild things here?

Or maybe here?

I thing I saw something!

They aren't in there!

Are the up here? I don't see them!

A good day together!
